THE STUDIO

Quiet is a discipline.

Køster & Vang was founded in 2011 by Mathilde Køster and Jonas Vang, who had spent a decade at larger practices designing louder rooms than they wanted to live in. The studio's twelve architects, interior designers, and makers work from a former bank hall on Bredgade.

THE PARTNERS

  • Mathilde Køster — Partner, Interior Architect MAA. Leads residential work. Educated at the Royal Danish Academy; previously at studios in Copenhagen and Zurich.
  • Jonas Vang — Partner, Architect MAA. Leads hospitality work and the joinery workshop collaboration. Educated at Aarhus School of Architecture.

How we work

  1. Light first. We survey a space through a full day before drawing a line.
  2. Few materials, fully understood. Every surface is sampled, aged, and judged in the room's own light.
  3. Built relationships. The same joiners, stonemasons, and metalworkers appear in our projects year after year.
