The brief

Fernhill Optical sell clear and smoke acetate frames that disappear on a white web page. They needed their full range shot for a new site, with every frame on white and every edge still visible.

The light

Clear acetate only shows up where something bright or dark sits behind its edge. We put two narrow strip boxes behind the sweep, just out of frame, so each rim picked up a thin bright line. A black card below the lens laid a soft shadow under the frames and gave them weight on the page.

The result

Forty-eight stills that sit on a pure white page without halos, and a short macro series of hinges and nose pads for the craftsmanship page. Most of the retouching was dust.
