The brief

Willamette Soda Co. were launching a sparkling spritzer in a clear bottle with a paper label, and they wanted the shop page to feel cold before anyone read a word. The catch was the condensation. Sprayed glycerine looks fake on a big file, and real condensation runs within a minute under hot lights.

The light

We kept twelve bottles in a cooler beside the set and swapped them every ninety seconds. A single strip box sat high and slightly behind, so the beads of water caught a rim of light, and a white card in front kept the label readable. Nothing on set stayed in front of a light for longer than a frame.

The result

Fourteen shop stills, three wide crops for the launch banner and a six-second loop of a bottle being lifted out of ice. The launch sold through in nine days, and the same light is now the template for every flavour they add.

“Mateo found the one angle where our bottle looked like it was made by hand, because it is. The launch sold through in nine days.”
