We only manage where we can be at the front door quickly. Here is where that is, and what each town is like to live in.
Northampton
The hub of the Pioneer Valley. Smith College, a Main Street of independent shops and restaurants, a serious arts and music scene, and streets of well kept Victorians and craftsman homes a short walk from downtown.
Florence
A village on the west side of Northampton, built around a compact center and Look Park. Quieter and leafier than downtown, with the co-op, the rail trail and a fifteen minute walk to Smith.
Amherst
A college town anchored by UMass and Amherst College, with a broad town common, bookstores and a farmers market. Big family houses on tree lined streets, and the Norwottuck Trail out to Northampton.
Easthampton
A former mill town turned arts community below Mount Tom, built around Nashawannuck Pond and the shops of Cottage Street. Studios, breweries and some of the best value single family homes in the Valley.
